As we continue to push the culture forward, we decided to do something new. We have just released our first collectible NFT of our September 2021 Anniversary Issue featuring Tenaja David aka Kia as a collectible on Opensea.

What is an NFT?

NFT stands for ‘non-fungible token’, a unit of a special one-of-a-kind data that cannot be exchanged, divided or duplicated, unlike cryptocurrencies that can be traded or mined. They are, however, purchased with cryptocurrencies, using blockchain technology to keep the data secure as they are traded. While you can technically copy the content of NFTs, their value comes from the fact they are the originals, each given an ID code to prove it's authenticity.

Why work with NFT's?

With the release of NFTs, many artists regardless of niche, are now able to take their work and offer it up for sale as a digital collectible. Through these blockchain-enabled digital assets, the artist cannot only maintain ownership of a piece of the art they produce but also gain royalties from sales made in secondary markets. This is a huge win for creatives today.

We encourage creatives of all forms to take the first step into NFT's as ownership and rights are common issues with limited solutions today regardless of the form of art created.
