With a heavy heart, we report that R&B singer Jesse Powell passed away at the age of 51. Powell was best known for his 1996 hit “You,” which reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. His family has released a statement asking for privacy during this difficult time.

Powell was born and raised in Los Angeles. Jesse loved music and began his music career in the early 1990s. He released his debut album, Jesse Powell, in 1995. The album spawned the hit single “You,” which peaked at number nine on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. His follow-up album, Solutions, was released in 1997 and reached the top 40 on the Billboard 200 chart.

Powell continued to release music throughout the 2000s, but he did not achieve the same level of commercial success as he did with his first two albums. His most recent release was the album My Way in 2016.

Powell's family has released a statement remembering him as a man who loved music and loved his fans. His sisters, Trina, and Tamara Powell, said he died "peacefully" at his home in Los Angeles. A cause of death was not shared.

We want to extend our condolences to Powell's family and friends during this difficult time. We will remember him as a talented musician who made some great music during his career.

Rest in peace, Jesse Powell.
