CHOSZN: Carrying the Moment

Before the stages, the sold-out rooms, and the viral moments, there was church.

For CHOSZN, music wasn’t a decision. It was inheritance. Born in Brownsville, Brooklyn and raised in Broward County, Florida, the 22-year-old R&B and soul artist grew up in a household where faith and sound lived side by side. Raised in a pastoral household, the church wasn’t just a place of worship—it was his first rehearsal space.

“Music has always been in my bloodline,” he says simply, like it was never something he could run from. And he didn’t try.

Before he ever sang into a microphone, CHOSZN was a drummer. Rhythm came first. Timing. Discipline. The quiet understanding of how music moves a room. He discovered his voice between the ages of 10 and 12, eventually realizing that what he carried wasn’t just talent. It was calling.

That calling followed him through Broward County and into Miami, where culture moves fast and opportunity moves faster. Miami taught him hustle. It taught him discipline. It taught him that wanting something badly isn’t enough. You have to move for it.

There was a time when CHOSZN was performing three to four shows a night, driving back and forth from Broward to Miami in his mother’s car with barely enough gas to get home. Sometimes, the sacrifice was food. Sometimes, it was sleep. But quitting was never an option.

“If you want it, you’ve got to get it,” he says.

That relentless pace didn’t just build exposure. It built an artist.

The breakthrough came when the internet met authenticity. CHOSZN went viral multiple times, but one moment stood out above the rest: Hood Christmas Carols. What started as a creative remix of familiar melodies turned into a cultural moment, racking up tens of millions of views and taking over TikTok feeds everywhere. The energy was playful, joyful, and unmistakably his.

CHOSZN was first discovered by WilPen founder Kenyan “Ken Pen” Penceal. That momentum led to a pivotal MajorStage performance, where he caught the attention of AWAL A&R Cory Walker. From there, industry doors began to open. Through MajorStage and early supporters like SXSW, BMI, and BET, everything shifted. That was the moment he knew. “Okay, I get it.”

Still, success didn’t slow him down. It sharpened him.

Since then, CHOSZN has toured multiple times, sharing stages across New York, Atlanta, Washington D.C., Brooklyn, and beyond. His first-ever show was a sold-out night at SOB’s in New York City. The video still gives him chills.

Then came the moments you can’t script. Performing in France for Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union’s wedding renewal on a private island. Singing with nothing but his guitar, a mic, and intention. Performing the national anthem for the Miami Heat and coming home to a city that shaped him. Opening for artists he once studied. Meeting idols who became peers.

And through it all, CHOSZN stayed rooted in development.

“I don’t just want a moment,” he explains. “I want to be able to carry the moment.”

That philosophy shows up everywhere, from his vocal control to his performance stamina to his musicianship. A multi-instrumentalist in progress, CHOSZN plays guitar and drums and continues developing across bass, piano, saxophone, and clarinet—merging classical foundations with soul-driven intuition.

For him, music has to mean something.

“I don’t like making mediocre music,” he says. “My songs have to reach a certain frequency.”

Healing is the word that keeps coming up. It’s what fans feel when they hear his voice and what he aims to give when he creates. His music is designed to be felt with your eyes closed, layered with real instruments, real emotion, and real purpose. CHOSZN isn’t chasing trends. He’s building masterpieces.

That purpose is deeply spiritual.

As a man of faith, he believes his music exists to reach people who are hurting, searching, or trying to make sense of their own journeys. He doesn’t shy away from the weight of that responsibility. If anything, he welcomes it, even when it’s scary.

“You don’t always know what God has planned for you,” he says. “But you know it’s big.”

Looking ahead, CHOSZN is preparing to release his debut project, with plans for two EPs this year. The first will unpack his story. Where he came from. Who he is. Loss, faith, growth, and the moments that shaped him. After years of singles, this project marks a new chapter.

An introduction by intention.

And to those just discovering him now, CHOSZN has a simple message:

“Welcome to the journey.”

He speaks often about chosen family. The fans, the supporters, the people who walk alongside him as he builds something lasting. Gratitude grounds him. Vision drives him. And the work never stops.

CHOSZN isn’t just having a moment.

He’s carrying it.
