Amanda Frost & Teeigh Young: Basketball Coaches with A Mission

As Women's History Month winds down, We Are Jersey magazine would like to honor notable women in sports. Meet Amanda Frost and Teeigh Young - two amazing basketball coaches that have a mission to help young kids succeed on and off the court. These two were born and raised in Red Bank, NJ, and have a long history of winning awards and championships. After dedicating 12 years of their lives to coaching and training, they were finally able to open up their own basketball camp in South Jersey. Fusion School of Basketball is unlike any other; the camp emphasizes the importance of academics as well as discipline and respect. The vast majority of players at this camp are young kids, many of whom will later go on to play college ball.

Frost and Young are not only great coaches, but they're also amazing role models for these kids who make sure their players are getting the best out of their basketball experience - on and off the court. Fusion Basketball is a coaching organization that will not only improve your game but will also teach you how to be successful in school and in life.

Let's start off by introducing Coach Frost. Amanda Frost attended Freehold Township High School where she played varsity basketball for all four years. She then went on to play college ball at Plattsburg State University but later transferred to Georgian Court University. While playing at GCU, Frost won a few coaching awards but unfortunately suffered a career-ending injury but that didn't stop her from dedicating her talents to basketball. During the 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 seasons at Franklin High, she won 2 State Sectional Championships.

Let's talk about Coach Young who attended Red Bank Regional High School. While playing for RBR, she won four state championships and was named MVP. Teeigh then went on to play Division I basketball at Rutgers University. After graduation, Teeigh continued her love for the game by going overseas and playing professional basketball in Finland where she won a championship title. She then circled back to the states and played in Atlanta where she obtained yet another championship title. After her successful basketball career with her plethora of accomplishments, she was inducted into the Rutgers University Hall of Fame in 2007 and Red Bank Regional High's Hall of Fame 10 years later.

These two amazing women have achieved so much and while they have a lot in common regarding honorary awards and accomplishments, what makes them stand out is their passion for the game and their dedication to helping others succeed. Frost and Young are not only great coaches but great mentors. Both emphasize heavily on "family first" meaning love, respect, and discipline while also building a relationship with the players and their parents. Fusion Basketball is all about inclusion and no one gets left behind.

With so much pride in their eyes, they spoke highly of their players and their accomplishments, who sometimes start at the mere age of 3 years old. One of their students was named Gatorade Player of the Year while others returned to their teams and became some of the top players in the Shore Conference. From transforming losing seasons to 3 time championship seasons, Frost and Young have made a huge impact in the lives of their players and will continue to do so for years to come with their beautiful souls. Their mission is to get as many kids involved as possible, emphasizing that as long as you are dedicated and committed, following directions, and utilizing the tools they provide, whoever participates will be successful in upping their game. At Fusion School of Basketball, the main message is passion, development, and being inclusive of all age ranges and backgrounds.

The goal of Fusion Basketball is to provide an opportunity for every child (currently servicing in Monmouth County) to participate in a basketball program that starts at the pre-K level and goes up through senior year in high school. Coach Frost & Coach Young do a great job to make sure that every kid has an opportunity to learn the game, play the game and enjoy the game.
