Abby Alabre: Curating Connection, Creativity, and Courage

In a city that thrives on hustle and pulse, Abby Alabre is quietly redefining what it means to cultivate community through art. At 27, the Grenadian-Haitian creative has transformed her personal experiences, trials, and relentless curiosity into “Art Walk, Love” an immersive space where artists, creatives, and communities converge in celebration of expression and collaboration.

For Abby, the journey wasn’t straightforward. Growing up in a home shaped by Caribbean values and raised primarily by both her mother and grandmother, she learned early the art of observation. “I was very shy as a child… very observant. I always questioned what people were doing and why,” she recalls. Yet that quiet introspection laid the foundation for a life in which empathy, discernment, and thoughtful curation would become her greatest assets.

Her path was also marked by challenges: parental separation, academic uncertainty, and moments of self-doubt. Through it all, Abby never lost sight of curiosity. Initially drawn to psychology, she soon pivoted to social work, discovering in sociology the power of environment and community to shape lives. It was in those lessons, paired with moments of personal hardship, that she began envisioning a space that could empower others while embracing authenticity.

And thus, Love Language, Inc. was born. A creative platform that started with conversation cards for singles and couples and evolved into full-fledged events that fuse art, dialogue, and engagement. Abby’s events aren’t just gatherings; they are experiences designed to connect people to their emotions, to one another, and to the artistry that surrounds them.

Her signature event, “Art Walk, Love” began modestly. A small date night showcasing local artists that quickly grew, fueled by Abby’s dedication, vision, and faith. “I realized my whole thing was never about the theme,” she explains. “It was more about the environment. Creating spaces where people felt comfortable, inspired, and seen.” Through “Art Walk, Love” she has collaborated with over 200 artists, nurturing talent while providing a platform for their work to be recognized and sold.

Abby’s approach blends strategy with vulnerability. She has navigated professional challenges, from employment disputes to managing her business while balancing personal responsibilities, all while learning to delegate and trust others. “A business is a baby,” she notes, “and you can’t raise it alone. But you also need the right people around it to help it grow.” Her team, from installations to marketing, supports her vision while allowing her creative instincts to remain at the forefront.

Her story extends beyond events and logistics. Abby’s experiences with faith, Caribbean cultural expectations, and personal reflection inform a philosophy of life that celebrates vulnerability, authenticity, and joy. “It’s okay to be happy. It’s okay to feel success. It’s okay to smile,” she says, a mantra she practices herself and instills in others.

Through initiatives like Girls Who Chat, Abby mentors young women, helping them find their voices and step confidently into the world. She sees these programs not only as extensions of her work but as her purpose; a way to create generational impact through empowerment, guidance, and shared knowledge.

Looking ahead, Abby is still defining her ultimate vision, but she already embodies a living testament to perseverance and faith. Whether navigating the logistics of an international art event or curating intimate, transformative experiences for her local community, she continues to lead by example, uplift others, and create spaces where creativity and humanity intersect.

If she could speak to her younger self, Abby says she would offer reassurance: “Your concerns are valid. Speak up. Trust the process. Be vulnerable. It’s okay to start over. It’s okay to be happy.”

And if the world is listening? She has a clear message: stop sleeping on her work. Abby Alabre is a curator, a connector, a visionary; and she is just getting started.
